Kickboxing - A place to pack a punch and destress.
Kickboxing started in the 70's with a group of friends who trained in different styles, but whom wanted to compete with each other. A set of rules were devised using boxing skills and Taekwon-do kicks and Kickboxing was born.
Our sessions are just that, kicks and punches to sweat and de-stress as well as practical self defence techniques. Nothing complicated, nothing too tricky, just simple fun & fitness.
Despite being our smallest section at South Hams Martial Arts, as with our Taekwon-do students World successes, we have also had 6 members selected to represent England at the Kickboxing World Championships with one returning as World Champion and 3 others with medal placings. But our club is mainly about fitness, with competition being an optional extra for those that want to take it a bit further. So if you want to compete or not, come along and give it ago!
So how do you try it out?
1. View a class from the Classes drop down menu above.
2. Fill in a contact form. You will find one on each club page or use the contact page. This will give you more info immediately.
3. Have a look on our facebook page and like it, to see what other things our club gets up to.
4. Then just pop along.
Lets hope we see you soon!
