We are still running our classes. We have been training online ever since the lockdown and we have just started training outdoors with social distancing. So if you still wish to join us, then please do!

With January being a popular time to try out new activities, we are seeing some lovely new faces at our Kick Boxing, Taekwon-do and Little Dragon classes. With more requests this year and a filled to capacity Dragon class in Kingsbridge, we have just set up two new classes, one as an extra at Quayside Leisure Centre and a new one opening in Dartington, Totnes. These classes are limited in numbers and we never ever have more than 12 in a class. More than this means less quality teaching for each child, and you the parent are paying the fees. I am sure you don't want to be paying just for a babysitting class or just a play session.
No, these 40 minute bite-sized martial arts classes are a lot more than that. Importantly they are multi skill based. For children to grow into good sports juniors, show dexterity and good fine motor skills for all things in life, learning starts young. The importance of a good activity where your child can practise balance, coordination, catch, throw, jump, hop, skip, spring, twist and turn is essential to all things in life, from building reactive skills to help stop falling over all the time, not bumping into things when running around, to being able to take part in school sports with more competency, increasing hand eye coordination, spatial awareness which also helps from handwriting at school to parking their car at college. For those that have joined the classes already, watch as your child develops a multitude of skills, gains in confidence and adapts to new experiences and skills quicker. You have set your child on a good well travelled road to success and high achievement. If you havn't joined up yet, get in quick......remembering our small class size ethos! Looking forward to our new classes opening next week. Lesley McGhie - Chief Instructor of South Hams Martial Arts - Celebrating 21 years of SHMA My classes last week have been focusing on knee spring and using body mass in our tkd patterns to get more power, and using the superman punch variations and drills for gaining distance and evasion in tkd and kb sparring sessions. Kickboxers have also being going through their syllabus person toward their grading.
Some good sweaty sessions as well as good brain work outs. Well done! See you this week for more learning experiences. 😁 |
